Practice Schedule

Chicago Rowing Union offers 3 programs plus a learn to row program, with something for everyone. All of our programs include both women and men. Practices are held at the Dammrich Rowing Center in Skokie, IL, located at 3220 W. Oakton Street (between McCormick Blvd and the Home Depot). Need a lift? All of our programs provide options for car pools from various city neighborhoods.

  • Winter Indoor Training: Wednesdays 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM, January 16 - March 27
  • Learn to Row: Sessions take place throughout the spring and summer. Each session consists of 8 classes, typically held on Saturday and Sunday mornings for 4 weekends in a row. For answers to frequently asked questions visit chicagorowingunion.org/learntorow.
  • Novice: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, beginning June (must complete a Learn to Row program).  Novice rowers who have completed a learn to row program elsewhere may join CRU at any time.  Contact us for more details at membership@chicagorowingunion.org.
  • Returning Novice: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, beginning April (for Novice rowers in their second season).  Novice rowers who have rowed with a program elsewhere are welcome.  Contact us for more details at membership@chicagorowingunion.org.
  • Competitive: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 5:00 AM - 7:00 AM , beginning April.
  • Club: Mondays and Wednesdays, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, beginning April.
