Winter Indoor Training will begin Wednesday, January 18th and go until Saturday, March 24th (18 practices). Wednesday practices will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program is free of charge to all members who have paid their membership fee for 2012 ($50). To register, click on the Members tab and click on the "Pay Now" button for the 2012 Annual Membership Fee.
CRU took part in the July 9th and 10th Chicago Sprints and performed stronger than ever. All boats did well with the Men's Open 4+ making the Semi-Finals and ending with a 3rd place finish for the first time since we have been attending the Sprints. See the full race results on Regatta Central.
CRU will be holding the last Learn-to-Row session of the year beginning Saturday, July 23 at 9:00AM. The class is limited to the first 12 people to register so hurry and bring a friend!

CRU had its best appearance yet at the Stonewall Regatta in Washington D.C. Hosted by the DC Strokes Rowing Club, the Stonewall is held every June. Since 2004, the regatta has been held on the Anacostia River out of the Anacostia Community Boathouse. CRU's racing results were:

We are please to announce that Mark Carroll has accepted the Club Program coaching position for the 2011 season. Mark comes to us with over 10 years of coaching experience including Norwalk River Rowing Association (Connecticut), St. Ignatius (Chicago), Loyola Academy, Robert Morris University, and Lincoln Park Boat Club, where he is currently the acting rowing director. Mark has a passion for the sport of rowing as well as for the advancement of masters rowing programs, such as CRU, in the Chicago area. We are excited to have him aboard and look forward to a great season!
Calling all rowers! Now is the time to register for the 2011 rowing season. The season begins on April 18th and goes through October 30th. Check the Schedule page for our line up of regattas for the year, as well as other important dates, all conveniently located in the CRU Calendar. The Chicago Rowing Union kicked-off its Healthy Lifestyle Campaign at LA Fitness, Evanston. The Healthy Lifestyle Campaign aims to promote active lifestyles with rowing machine as a mainstream indoor fitness equipment, and boost awareness of recreational and competitive rowing sport in the city of Chicago. Craig Wu demonstrates correct technique when using the rowing machine. Joshua Thurbee, Matthew Honaberger and Paulo Dennis Son answer inquiries regarding rowing and the upcoming Learn-To-Row program which will start in April. The Healthy Lifestyle Campaign will soon be at your nearest athletic club.

Congratulations to CRU's competitive team for its 1st-place win on June 26th in Grand Rapids, MI! The Men's Masters 4 won the 1k with a time of 3:38.68. Coming in 2nd was Lincoln Park at 3:40.15, and 3rd was Ann Arbor at 3:55.29. Go CRU!
